David’s passion for music and sound began early, leading him to study electronics and eventually land his first job at CBS The Record Factory. There, he maintained and serviced some of the most collectible tape machines, gaining invaluable insights into the art of mastering.
As David delves into the nuances of audio mastering, he sheds light on the evolution of this crucial process. David emphasizes the importance of mastering in today’s digital age, where the quality of home studios varies greatly.
But David’s story doesn’t end there. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Sydney University, where he studied a Masters Degree in Sound and Audio acoustics under Neville Thiele and went on to co-present this design course. Under Neville Thiele’s mentorship, David explored the theoretical aspects of sound reproduction.
